Victor Vasarely International Contest for Art in Public Space

Goals

In 2010 the Municipality of the City of Pécs launched the programme entitled Victor Vasarely International Contest for Art in Public Space (VVNP), the goal of which is to create a new work of art in public space in a different European city every three years.

Antecedents

The contest was announced for the first time in Pécs in 2010, for the second time in Aix-en-Provence in 2013 within the framework of the Cultural Capital of Europe programme. As a result of the applications, a new work of art in public space was created in both cities.

The founder is looking for a new contest announcer every three years

Any European city may become the announcer of the contest, which undertakes the goals defined in the founding rules of the VVNP. The organisation and realisation of the competition is the task of the city or municipality announcing the contest.

The operating system of the call for applications

– the founder has established a board of curators for the realisation of the goals
– the curator selected by the city announcing the contest will define the topic of the call for applications within the context of the social and artistic discourse of the public space.
